New Painting

I started this new painting while i was trying to work on some quality pieces and i am not quite sure what to do with it. I want to try something new, but i am not quite sure what. I like the swirl, calligraphy like stuff i do in my paintings but i feel like its getting a little repeatative, so im trying to think of something new to do.

any ideas?

Little Paintings

So I am trying to think of what paintings i can do that are 18x24 or smaller so i can enter them into the quality section but I'm not quite sure what to do. I have never worked that small before so i have no idea what they will look like. Should i do some stencil things like i did with the tree one? Or, stick to the more graphic and layered concept i did later on with my stuff? They need to be good enough for quality so any suggestions?

All Done

I figured out today that i am officially all done with my concentration pieces. It is such a nice feeling to know i have finished about six months of work. I had a total of about 14 pieces, so i am going to have to choose which 12 im going to send to AP. I also need to do some small paintings to send for my quality pieces. I'm hoping that i'll be be able to paint something that will impress them. I'm still trying to think of what I am going to do for that.

But, besides that. I just need to do a few touch ups and I am all done! Yay!

This was the painting that had the drawing of the hand on it before. However, the more i looked at it the more the hand was bothering me so i painted over it and did some interesting designs on it. I like how it turned out, i just don't know it it looks finished or if it still looks like it needs something. I have had this painting in my workspace for a while and want to get it finished.

Any ideas?

I have been trying to go out of my comfort zone with my concentration, however i still feel i need to take some more risks. I think this one is getting there, I am just not quite sure what else i can do with it. I tried to do some more geometric elements, but I don't feel its enough or something isn't working. Any suggestions?

I'm Stuck

I have had a horrible past couple weeks with painting. I feel like everything im doing is to messy and busy or i have done it before. I need some new ideas and its taking me a really long time to get inspired which is stressing me out. Any ideas on what things i should try or what things can get me out of this rut im in?

Three Pieces

New Concentration...

So, this weekend all i did was paint and tried to get a good start on my three pieces that are due. While i was painting and drawing these kids with animal heads i started second guessing my concentration. After trying to produce more and more of these animal creatures i realized it wasnt working for me. I had trouble creating things and it turned into more of a chore and a hassle then something i enjoyed doing.

I decided to take my style that i have and work on it a bit. I have concluded that my concentration will be based on "Wabi Sabi" a japanese term for "beauty in imperfection"

I spent two days on this concept and am already extremely excited.

Concentration

I decided to do my concentration on the idea of taking children's portraits from the 1920's and 30's and replacing their heads with animal heads. I have always been creeped out by those 1920's and 30's portraits of children and felt morphing them with animals would bring it to a whole new level.

I think his paintings are gorgeous in a wierd way. I don't know why i'm drawn to them because im not a fan of drawing cartoons, but i'm drawn to his work.
